What is Juggle Street & How Does it Work?

What is Juggle Street?

Juggle Street is a neighbourhood network providing busy families access to trusted, local helpers including babysitters, nannies, au pairs and home tutors. When parents and helpers have competed their profiles, they can connect, chat online and meet face-to-face if they wish. Juggle Street Pty Ltd is a wholly owned Australian company based in Sydney.

Pricing & Payments

There are no pre-determined prices, or fixed hourly rates for jobs on Juggle Street. Parents set the price they are willing to pay for each job, and post it to one or many of their local helpers. The helpers decide if the job is ‘worth it’ and apply or decline. Helpers get paid cash or via bank transfer by the family at the end of each job. Juggle Street is free to join and use for helpers, parents pay per job post or subscribe.

Safety & Security

At Juggle Street, trust and security are paramount. That’s why everyone who joins (parents and helpers) need to complete mobile phone verification before their profile is activated. A family’s exact home address is only shared with the helper who is awarded the job. Working with Children Checks are mandatory since May 2019.

“I was looking for before and after school care near me, so I signed up to Juggle Street and found a nanny who lived right across the road from us. Our after school nanny was a great alternative to the after school programs offered at school.” Alex

Why Juggle Street for before & after School Care

Juggle Street is one of Australia’s largest networks of babysitters, nannies and in-home and online tutors. It is the perfect way to find immediate help for your child with before & after school care. You can search and find carers in your neighbourhood who can look after your children before and after school as well as drop your children to school and pick them up after school.

Juggle Street has before & after school carers who are happy to take children to their extra-curricular activities such as sports training/games, dance and music lessons

Juggle Street is an on-demand job platform, which means you can book immediate help for your child in a few easy steps. All of Juggle Street’s carers have detailed profiles outlining their experience and qualifications. You can use our filters to find babysitters and nannies who have a driver’s licence, specific language and special needs training. Juggle Street babysitters and nannies are reviewed by other parents on our network which means that their profiles display star ratings and written reviews from other families like you!

Once a parent is ready to find a before and after school care nanny, they can post a job and outline all of their requirements and fill in their weekly schedule of care needed. They can then invite a group of Juggle Street helpers to apply for the job.

Job invitations are delivered to babysitters and nannies via SMS and they can view the job details and apply or decline. The “chat” feature can be used to ask questions and arrange to have an interview or a phone call. Once the parent has chosen their nanny they officially “award” them the job so that both parties have a record of the details.

Juggle Street Checks

Juggle Street verifies the right-to-work status of non-Australian/New Zealand helpers, using the Visa Entitlement Verification Online system (VEVO). Juggle Street also verifies working with children checks in Australia.

Finding the Right Before & After School Care Nanny

  • 1. Before you officially hire a before & after school care helper, organise for the nanny to come to your home and meet your children. Ensure you are happy with the way they interact with your children.
  • 2. Find the right person to suit your children’s personalities. Do you need someone energetic to keep up with active boys or someone with a calming influence who is happy to do arts and crafts with your creative child?
  • 3. When it comes to school pick-up and drop-offs you will need to find someone who is extremely punctual and reliable. Ensure your nanny has a track record of being responsible when it comes to time management.
  • 4. If homework is something you are keen to get help with, make sure your helper understands that this is part of the job description and ensure they are capable of doing this.
  • 5. If driving is part of the job, ask to view their driver’s licence and vehicle. Discuss booster seats if this is a requirement.

Benefits of using Juggle Street for out of school hours care

Many children of working parents attend their local Out Of School Hours Child care (OOSHC) centre after school, but a Juggle Street nanny or babysitter can be better alternative for several reasons, such as:

Home sweet home

Some kids, especially those new to school life, just want to go home when the bell rings at 3pm to relax in their own space. For little people, six hours of school is an exhaustingly long time and the prospect of another three hours with lots of kids can be emotionally draining to some, especially when they have Out Of School Hours Child Care (OOSHC) every day

Some children might enjoy a mix of after-school care and a babysitter or nanny.

Children with special needs such as sensory issues often find the noise and rough-and-tumble of OOSH centres overwhelming, which makes Juggle Street’s after-school care ideal.

Homework help

Book a Juggle Street carer who can help children with their homework. Juggle Street even has, in some areas, retired teachers-turned-nannies who are understandably popular with many mums and dads, as well as the kids they assist. Getting homework done and dusted before parents get home allows families to spend relaxed, quality time together at the end of the day. Kids will also feel pride showing parents their completed homework.

You can also find a Juggle Street carer to take kids to after-school extra-curricular activities such as swimming lessons, appointments, tutoring or music classes. These are often relegated to Saturdays and Sundays due to parents’ work hours, so this would increase free, family time on weekends and mean less taxiing around – always a bonus!

Flexibility after 5PM

Maybe an urgent issue has come up, or a meeting has run over time. There are many reasons why it can be difficult to leave work at 5pm on the dot to pick up the children before a centre’s usual closing time of 6pm.

Many mums and dads are familiar with the panic of being stuck in traffic, or the frantic run that breaks the land-speed record to collect your children from after-school care. With a regular Juggle Street sitter or nanny, you can book longer hours to cover longer work days, and many sitters will be flexible about staying a little longer. You can also find one who can cook dinner, or can do some food prep for you to further ease the pressure of your busy life.

Individual supervision

Most after-school programmes have a carer to child ratio of 1:15. While carers are trained childcare professionals, you can’t beat the one-on-one care of a nanny or babysitter. OOSHC ratios also mean that often bad behaviour such as bullying can slip under the radar and can go unnoticed, unreported or unpunished.

After-school adventures

While most OOSH centres are fantastic at coming up with fun, new activities every day, kids really enjoy, and are enriched by, a change of scenery which they won’t get if they’re in OOSHC every afternoon. Juggle Street carers can maximise the after-school hours by taking children to different places such local parks, the beach during warmer months, or an art gallery or movie.
